A winery makes wine and a vineyard grows grapes! Sometimes a winery can have a vineyard where they get their grapes from, but often a vineyard in Texas only grows grapes and then sells them to wineries.

Thank you for reaching all the way to the bottom of this list. As a reward, Russ Kane of the VintageTexas blog explains how #TXWine Twitter Tuesday started:

“TXwine Twitter tastings were started in combination with Texas Department of Agriculture’s Texas Wine Marketing Program shortly after I started blogging in 2008. Seems quite a long time ago now. Back then, Denise Clark and I, and a wine writer (of Wine Curmudgeon) from Dallas, Jeff Siegel, we were all new to social media, but realized that it could be an alternative channel to market for local wines like in Texas. At that time they weren’t getting any notice from the mainstream wine media like Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast or even the major metropolitan newspapers in Texas. Another thing we realized is that we needed a way to guide people to Texas wine tweets. So, we actually “invented” the hashtag #TXwine and started to use it on Twitter postings and then to doing #TXwine Twitter Tuesdays once a month.”
