Since the beginning of the Texas Wine Lover website in 2011, the header of the website has said “The premier website for Texas wine news and information.” There are often times we hear of news, announcements, or other items that don’t have enough information for a full blog post. For those items, we often share the information on our social media platforms, but now we have this area of the website to find that information. If you hear of something new and we haven’t posted it yet, please let us know so we can add it to the News Flash!

Ceccoli Vineyards Relocating
The winery Ceccoli Vineyards announced on their social media that they are selling their current winery property, but not the business or brand, as the owners plan to relocate to a smaller property with lower overhead. The winery will remain open and continue normal tastings and events during the transition, with special wine deals expected as inventory is reduced for the move. The owners emphasize that Ceccoli Vineyards is not closing and will continue operating in a new location. We will keep up with the story and work with them on updating their listing when the new location is announced.

More Texas Wineries Closed
BOXT, the company that tried to help consumers with premium boxed wine has apparently closed. Emails have not been returned, and their Facebook page’s email is invalid.
Also, it was commented last year that Brushy Creek Vineyards and Winery had closed. Emails to the late Les Constable’s widow have been unanswered, and the website does not work.
Fall Creek Vineyards Tasting Room Being Moved
It was announced on the Fall Creek Vineyards social media that their Driftwood tasting room will be moving to San Marcos. The Grand Opening is September 18th for the new location at 7585 Ranch Rd. 12, San Marcos, TX 78666. The last day of business for the Driftwood tasting room will be September 30th. This will then leave two tasting rooms for Fall Creek Vineyards being the San Marcos location and the original location in Tow.
New Wineries have Opened
We have added new wineries to the website Guide and mobile app. Red Dirt Vineyards is located in Amarillo, and they are currently doing tastings at Farmer’s Markets. Section Six Winery is also located in the Texas High Plains, and the winery is being built in Gruver. This also makes Section Six Winery the most northernmost Texas winery, while Sod Cellars is the next northernmost winery.
Restaurants Closed
It was with unfortunate news that we learned Main 101 Grill and Bar in Laporte has closed. Also, it is with sad news that owner/chef Bryan Gillenwater announced Bryans on 290 in Johnson City has closed.
New Wineries and Tasting Rooms Opening
Two new wineries have opened, both in Fredericksburg: The Draw in downtown Fredericksburg and Chaparrel Vin on US 290 heading into Fredericksburg.

Vineyard Equipment for Sale
Twisted Hill Vineyard in Anderson is closing and selling off its equipment. Owner Dean Chandler posted the information on his Facebook profile.
More Wineries Closing and New Ones Opening
Ferris & Fletch Wine Co. closed their doors on Main Street in Fredericksburg on July 26. They will be part of the new winery Chaparral Vin opening in August 2026 on U.S. 290. Fat Ass Off the Ranch in Fredericksburg has been added to the website Guide and mobile app. Nabors Creek Estate Vineyard is now open starting August 1st on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of every month. Sod Cellars has now opened in Dalhart.
Winery Closing Tasting Room
It was announced that C.L. Butaud will be closing its tasting room on July 26. “When our lease came up for renewal, the increase in rent simply wasn’t something we could responsibly take on as a small, independent winery,” C.L. Butaud co-owners Brooke and Randy Hester wrote in the post. “After a lot of thought, we made the difficult decision to step away from the space.” The winery will still be open, though online, while they look for a new location.

Wineries and Tasting Rooms Closing
Serrano Wine in Fredericksburg has closed. The owners are moving to San Antonio and opening the Highland House Wine Bar & Bottle Shop. Also closing in June is the 4R Ranch Vineyards and Winery tasting room in McKinney.
Watson Vineyard and Brewery Closing
Watson Vineyard and Brewery announced on their social media that, unfortunately, they will be closing.

Pontotoc Vineyard Changes
Pontotoc Vineyard has made the announcement they are moving Pontotoc Vineyard Weingarten to a new location on Austin Street in Fredericksburg. This location on 314 East Austin Street will also house their new business ventures of Dot’s Bakery and Scout Spirits.
William Chris Vineyards New Location
It was reported that William Chris Vineyards will be opening a new location in downtown Fredericksburg at 101 E Main St. The remodeling of the building is to start and it is estimated to be finished by the end of the summer.
Lost Draw to Open Second Location
Lost Draw at Johnson City will be opening their second location back in Fredericksburg, the city where they first opened. The new location will be at 206 S Lincoln St, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. News on the official opening date and progress of the new location will be coming.

Frontier Cellars in Smithville has now opened. Hye Top Vineyards in Johnson City has now officially opened with their Grand Opening happening on April 25, 2026. CMK Cellars in Hamilton, Texas, has been added to the website Guide and mobile app.

The winery in Muenster, Texas, has been listed for sale. It is unknown if the second tasting room in McKinney is included or not.

Newsom Vineyards in Tomball Tasting Room
It was confirmed with owner Nolan Newsom that the Newsom Vineyards in Tomball is no longer. His wines are still available at The Bluebonnet Tasting Room, but it is not a dedicated Newsom Vineyards tasting room anymore.
Sanctuary Cellars Coming This Summer
A new winery is heading to New Braunfels and should be opening this summer. Sanctuary Cellars is owned by John and Terri Ellen Lebas. The location will be either at 6112 FM 2722, New Braunfels, TX 78132 as their website states, or at 6190 Farm To Market Rd 2722 which the filed permit states.
Tempe Tempe Creek Vineyard & Farms Closing

Republic Boot Company of Houston, Texas, has purchased 290 Wine Castle. The company has future plans for the property to make a destination experience.
Bull Lion Ranch Wine Shop Closes
Bull Lion Ranch Wine Shop in Glen Rose has closed, bringing the number of locations for Bull Lion Ranch to two: Hico and Grapevine. Taking the location space in Glen Rose is Noblemen Wines Texas Cellar. This is the second location for Noblemen Wines based in San Antonio.

Friday Mountain wines
The Top Texas Wine at the 2026 Houston Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition was the Friday Mountain 2020 Frenchman’s Corner Mourvèdre. The winery has not opened its tasting room yet but there are big plans for it at the upcoming resort from the Black family, known for Terry Black’s Barbecue. Texas winemaker Phil Price is at the helm for Friday Mountain’s wines.
Decadent Saint Winery to Close
It was announced that Decadent Saint Winery will be closing in January 2026.
Brennan Vineyards to close Comanche Location
From an announcement by Brennan Vineyards: “After 20 years of continuous operation in Comanche, Texas, Brennan Vineyards will close its Comanche facility on December 30, 2025, and relocate its operations to Fredericksburg, Texas. Beginning January 2, 2026, our production and customer-facing activities will resume under the umbrella of our sister company, Texas Wine Collective.”

Sloan & Williams Winery Closes and Red Dirt Cellars Opens
Sloan & Williams Winery in Grapevine has closed. A new winery, Red Dirt Cellars, has taken over its location. Red Dirt Cellars is owned by the same people as Landon Winery, but is a separate winery with a different concept from all the Landon Winery locations.
New Wineries and Tasting Rooms Open and Move
There are some new wineries and tasting rooms that have opened this month. Silver Creek Winery, owned by Yanmei Zhang, has opened in Center Point. Adega Vinho in Stonewall has opened a tasting room in downtown Fredericksburg called Adega Vinho on Adams. Eden Hill Vineyard had a location in Dallas near the Farmer’s Market (The Shed). They have moved to a booth in The Shed itself, so the new listing shows Eden Hill Winery at The Shed.

Following the devastating floods that have impacted the Hill Country, Texas Hill Country Wineries and its members are stepping up to support relief and recovery efforts across the region. While the immediate outpouring of support has been incredible, recovery will take weeks—if not months. THCW announced that it will continue to support families and businesses after the first wave of donations and attention has passed. To that end, they’ve organized a Clean-Up Supply Donation Drive, and are coordinating with partners across the region to offer drop-off points, future volunteer opportunities, and more.

Fall Creek Vineyards is Sold
Fall Creek Vineyards winemaker Sergio Cuadra and a group of investors are the new owners of Fall Creek Vineyards. Founders Ed and Susan Auler planted their vineyard in 1975, and the Tow location of the winery was opened in 1983.

It was announced that Ursa at Branch on High will close on June 1. In addition, Bending Branch Winery is transforming its original 1840 log cabin structure into a new 5,000+ square foot tasting room to support its growing brands and elevate the guest experience. Noblemen Wines Sold to Copper Rose Wine
Noblemen Wines has been sold to Victor and Elizabeth Eichhorn of Copper Rose Wine in San Antonio. The winery’s tasting room will be moved to Copper Rose Wine in San Antonio. Noblemen Wines will be in the store, and they will continue to work with John Rivenburgh of Rivenburgh Wine. Wines will be available by the glass and by the bottle at Copper Rose Wine seven days a week in San Antonio. People are invited to come by the shop and taste anything on their glass menu any time, so scheduled tastings are no longer necessary.
