Fans of Rhône-style wines will have a special opportunity this April when the Rhône Rangers bring their Texas Tour to the Lone Star State. Three events in Houston and the Texas Hill Country will showcase wines made from classic Rhône grape varieties while giving wine lovers a chance to meet the winemakers behind them.
The Rhône Rangers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting American wines made from grape varieties originating in France’s Rhône Valley. These include popular red grapes such as Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre, along with whites like Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne.
Many Texas wineries grow and produce wines from these grapes, making Texas a natural stop for the Rhône Rangers tour.

April 10 – Rhône Rangers Texas Tour: Houston
The tour begins in Houston at Decant Urban Winery with an evening event celebrating American Rhône wines. Guests will have the opportunity to taste wines made from Rhône varietals while learning more about how these grapes thrive in regions across the United States.
Events like this typically feature wineries from several states, including Texas, California, and Oregon, all pouring wines made from Rhône grapes. Attendees can taste a wide range of styles, from crisp Rhône whites to bold red blends, while interacting with winery representatives and fellow wine enthusiasts.

April 12 – Texas Rhône Wines Seminar and Luncheon: Texas Hill Country
The Texas Hill Country portion of the tour begins with an educational seminar and luncheon at William Chris Vineyards.
This session focuses specifically on Rhône varietal wines produced in Texas. Guests will hear directly from winemakers who are working with these grapes in Texas vineyards while tasting examples of their wines.
Educational tastings like this offer a deeper look at how Rhône grapes adapt to Texas terroir and why they have become some of the most exciting varieties in the state’s wine industry.

April 12 – Rhône Rangers Grand Tasting – Texas Hill Country
Later that afternoon, the Rhône Rangers will host a large walk-around tasting featuring more than 30 wineries pouring Rhône-style wines. This was a phenomenal event last year.
Guests can sip and stroll while tasting wines made from grapes such as:
- Clairette Blanche
- Picpoul Blanc
- Grenache
- Syrah
- Carignan
- Rhône-style blends
Wineries from Texas, California, and Oregon are expected to participate, giving attendees the opportunity to explore a wide range of American Rhône wines in one location.
