Adega Vinho on Adams
Fredericksburg has a way of blending tradition with constant reinvention, and nowhere is that spirit more alive than at Adega Vinho’s new tasting room located just a few short steps from the intersection of Main St and North Adams in downtown Fredericksburg. Having been a fan and wine club member since they opened their winery in Stonewall, I’ve always admired Adega Vinho for its Portuguese-inspired wines and relaxed Hill Country charm, so when I heard they were opening a new space right in downtown Fredericksburg, I couldn’t wait to check it out.
Tucked just steps off Main Street, the new tasting room feels like a perfect reflection of Adega Vinho’s identity—modern and polished, yet with unpretentious old-world charm. They made efficient use of the cozy space, repeating their signature use of warm wood finishes, and thoughtfully curated details, making the space feel intimate, almost like stepping into a friend’s home. The gentle hum of conversation, the swirl of glasses, and the muted sounds of traffic passing by all add to the welcoming atmosphere.
When you step up to the bar to do your tasting or get a glass of wine, you won’t see any bottles lined up in front of you. That’s because they are located in a preservation dispensing machine along the wall. You purchase money on a card, much like a gift card, and receive a glass. You place your glass under the spout of the wine you wish and choose a 1½ ounce taste, a 5-ounce glass, or a 7½ ounce glass. Insert the card in the slot and push the corresponding button. This works well if you can’t make up your mind and want to sample several wines before you choose. One thing to notice is the price above the wine as they are not all the same. They have almost all of the same wines at the downtown location that they have out in Stonewall, including a semi-sweet. There is bottle service as well. They have a wide variety of non-alcoholic drink choices as well, including non-alcoholic beer. Something fun about the card is if you don’t finish the money on it, you can take it with you and use it on your next visit. If you do finish the card, you are encouraged to leave it to recycle.
The staff are knowledgeable but never overbearing, expertly weaving stories of the family’s winemaking prowess and how this new tasting room represents the next chapter in their journey. It’s clear Adega Vinho isn’t just expanding — they’re evolving, inviting guests to slow down, sip thoughtfully, and connect. Be sure and allow for time to sit in front of the big windows and watch the people walking by.
While the wine clubs are not reciprocal, this downtown location offers its own unique card club. Three levels of money on the card allow for an extra percentage added and include discounts on bottle and merchandise purchases.

After a lovely glass of 2023 Dell Valley Chardonnay at Adega Vinho, I made my way to another 290 favorite that has recently found a second home in Fredericksburg.
Signor Vineyards – Fredericksburg
Signor Vineyards, the serenely beautiful winery known for its award-winning wines and elegant grounds just west of town on Highway 290, has opened a charming in-town tasting room. Their new space, nestled inside a historic home at the corner of West Austin and North Orange Streets, offers a refined yet relaxed setting to enjoy their wines without venturing far from Main Street.
One of the best parts? The hours are refreshingly flexible—Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 3:00–8:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 1:00–8:00 p.m.—making this an ideal stop for a pre-dinner glass or a cozy nightcap.
Step through the beautiful front door of the thoughtfully renovated house, and you’re greeted at the host stand before being guided to your perfect spot. Whether you settle into one of the comfortably furnished rooms indoors or relax outside under the stately trees, the atmosphere invites you to slow down and savor the moment.
