Happy 14th Anniversary to Texas Wine Lover!

Fourteen years. Wow! The Texas Wine Lover (TWL) blog was founded on March 20th, 2011, and it’s still growing strong. There aren’t many weeks that go by without a new blog post being published.

Recently we learned that Texas Wine Lover was awarded as one of the “100 Best Wine Blogs” again by FeedSpot. That’s wine blogs in the world! This year we started 43rd out of 100 wine blogs on the web and the order among all the blogs fluctuates frequently. To have Texas wine represented in the 100 Best Wine Blogs is a great honor for Texas wine and we are proud to represent the state. We have some of the best contributing writers at Texas Wine Lover and it was nice to know that someone still reads these days among the TikTok, Instagram, and other videos out there. Feedspot also awarded us the 19th-best overall blog in Texas at the time. That’s any kind of blog.

So, the blog is still going strong, and after over two years, the website Guide, Plan Your Trip, and the Texas Wine Lover mobile app are going strong too. Our goal was to have every winery in Texas claim their listing. Once a listing is claimed, it means the winery or other business can update it anytime with all kinds of information to help you, the wine lovers out there. Particularly important are the days and hours they are open so you know when you can visit them. At the time of writing this, there are 531 Texas wineries listed and 312 (59%) have claimed their listings. If you see one of the winery listings with the message asking the winery to claim their listing, and you know that winery, please let them know they should claim their listing so you can have all the latest updated information about them available to you and others.

I know events are big for wineries and I just ordered two tickets to an upcoming event in April. I’m sure you are looking for events to attend too and with the listings, businesses can add their events to their listings. Those businesses also include Wine Trails so check the wine trails that are listed and their events too. But besides the event being shown on the individual listings, they are also consolidated into a chronological big list and calendar on the website and a big Events list in the mobile app! This lets you know exactly where you may want to go to attend an event. Please spread the word to others as this is a great way to help support Texas wine.

My goal is to have every winery that is listed in the website Guide and mobile app to have at least one blog post written about them. We have writers spread across the state of Texas that are helping fulfill that goal. (We need someone in the High Plains if you know somebody.) I moved to San Antonio last year, so I am a lot closer to the Hill Country now which helps me visit all the wineries that keep opening up. I still have some work to do though because I have only visited 539 Texas wineries over the 14 years of Texas Wine Lover.

I would also like to thank the wineries and local businesses who have claimed their listings in the website Guide and mobile app and then selected a paid membership plan. A low $10/month or more membership for a listing helps to pay expenses so we can continue bringing everybody the Texas Wine Lover website and mobile app and spreading the word about Texas wine. Everyone loves something for free, but unfortunately, not everything is free to create and maintain.

Our social media presence is doing well with a strong following on our Facebook page, Instagram, and X (Twitter) accounts. People still look at follower numbers, so please do a Like or Follow our social media accounts to help out. You should have seen new social media posts in the past few months that look more professional and that’s another expense I added to help spread the word about Texas wine. I know I’m biased, but I believe our Facebook group Texas Wine Friends is the best Texas wine Facebook group out there with an excellent mix of consumers and industry people.
