This 14-acre property on the Pedernales River was once home to local Native American tribes. The arrowheads discovered on the estate are evidence of the area’s early inhabitants. In the early 1900s, the Beckman family purchased the land and created a working ranch, farm, and home. Generations of the family lived on the property and ultimately sold the property to Chris and Tia Aspra. The couple remodeled the Beckman home and created a tasting room for their new winery, Arrowhead Creek Vineyards.
Located just 15 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg, the estate is ideally located on Highway 290. The Aspra’s rejuvenated the property and planted two acres of Tannat and Mourvèdre to add to the beauty while providing estate grapes for their wines. Earlier this year, the property changed hands, and the new owners have big plans.
Josh and Candice White, along with her parents Mark and Kim Isbell, have purchased the property, and the changes to the estate are already evident. The new entry is just the start. The large bar in the tasting room has been replaced with comfortable seating. Outdoor seating is available on the tasting room’s patio, and a screened-in ice house is a good place to watch a game or enjoy a beer.

A pergola near the river is perfect for live music, and the sprawling lawn encourages kids to run around and play. Further down the river and behind the vineyard, luxury RV parking spaces are in the works. The old Dance Hall is getting air conditioning and a deck with outdoor seating. It’s an excellent spot for tours and larger groups.

The property isn’t the only place you’ll notice changes. A stylish new label design will get your attention. The existing inventory is still available for purchase. And the new wines are made from California grapes to inject a new style of wine for the label. The family is excited for the 2023 harvest of the estate grapes from the mature vines. They aim for about 1,000 cases annually, likely including estate, Hill Country, High Plains, and a little California.
