American Fine Wine Competition’s (AFWC’s) The Invitational took place at FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management on January 14-16, 2023.
Over 550 wines from 125 wineries were evaluated and judged by a 28-member judging panel of wine industry educators, restaurateurs, retailers, journalists, and sommeliers from across the country.
Co-founder and President Shari Gherman said, “At AFWC, we look for the very best wines the country has to offer. The wines must be vetted before being personally invited. Our elite acquisition team spends a great deal of time each year tasting thousands of wines from across the U.S. identifying wines they deem to be the best in the country.”
The big Texas winery winner this year for The Invitational was Becker Vineyards that was awarded Best of Show Red and Best of Class in the Other Red Single Varietal category for the 2019 Barbera, Tallent Vineyards, Texas, with a score of 96.
