Majek Vineyard & Winery Begins Offering WSET Wine Certification Courses

Majek Vineyard & Winery has been approved as a satellite training location for Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Wine Certification through The Texas Wine School.

Located in Schulenburg, Majek Winery will be conducting one-day Level 1 WSET Wines certification courses on Saturdays, April 15^th, July 1^st, and September 2^nd. All classes will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and students can purchase lunch at the Majek tasting room and enjoy views of the vineyard. The course exam will take place during the last hour of the class. Schulenburg’s close proximity to Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and Victoria makes these classes a great option for students with busy weekday work and personal commitments.

CEO Lynne Majek shared, “As a person interested in constantly improving my wine knowledge, I found that the gold standard WSET courses were only available in major markets on weekday evenings across several weeks. Residing in rural central Texas, I needed a weekend schedule. I knew that others, both in the industry and wine enthusiasts, would be interested in weekend classes too.”

The Texas Wine School, a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Houston, has partnered with WSET and The Wine Scholar Guild to offer certification classes since 2011. “Facilitating WSET courses at Majek Vineyard & Winery will help bring quality wine education to more enthusiasts in Central Texas,” says The Texas Wine School Education Coordinator, Elva Akin.

Founded in London, WSET is the global leader in providing in-person and online education that inspires and empowers wine and spirits professionals and enthusiasts alike. San Antonio-based sommelier, Veronique Cecilia Barretto will be the certified trainer for WSET courses hosted at Majek.
