Many friendships start over a glass of wine. And that was the case for Will Donohue and Michel Woods who met last year in one of the tasting rooms of Landon Winery. These two regular guys both wanted to learn more about Texas wine. They like listening to podcasts and learning things. So, they made a plan to create their own podcast to help others in their own wine journey.
Will has a background as an infrastructure engineer and Michel retired from education and now works for a car dealership. Being in the tasting room made it easy to see that consumers wanted to learn. They want to learn about wine, how to drink it, and what Texas wines they should try. These guys were hearing the questions customers were asking.

In January, these two wine friends launched the podcast We Know Texas Vino to tell the stories of the people behind the wines. After talking with just a few wineries, they knew they wanted to spread the word about the awesome people in the industry.
The podcast is brand new and gets most of its exposure through Facebook and word of mouth from friends and family. In the first few episodes, there were some challenges with technology, but now they’ve got the hang of things. They are excited to record more stories, so if you are a winery owner and want to share, just reach out to [email protected]. They are aiming for 50 winery visits this year and love to get off the beaten path.
When you listen to the podcast, these two have a fun and casual banter that comes through as they interview each winery. This is not a stuffy wine podcast but one that can be enjoyed by wine lovers at any level. Michel says, “Our number one goal is to showcase each unique winery, ownership, and wine – and to have fun.”
As they are getting things kicked off in this first year of episodes, they are also hoping to add some live interviews, tasting experiences, and wine discussions. Download an episode today anywhere you find your favorite podcasts and hear the stories behind Texas wines.
