A winery makes wine and a vineyard grows grapes! Sometimes a winery can have a vineyard where they get their grapes from, but often a vineyard in Texas only grows grapes and then sells them to wineries.

Antima Cellars

June 1, 2022 by Jeff Cope Leave a Comment

Antima Cellars

Antima Cellars is located in Brownfield in the Texas High Plains. They are a winery from Narra Vineyards and is owned by Koteswari Narra and Nikhila Narra Davis. Nikhila’s name may sound familiar because she and her husband Greg are the owners of Kalasi Cellars in Fredericksburg.

Antima Cellars is by reservation only, so I made reservations for co-owner Gail Day of Buena Suerte Vineyards and me. The connection with Kalasi Cellars became more evident when we arrived and the dual sign listed both Antima Cellars and the location of Narra Vineyards. This was important during our tasting too as we were given only Antima Cellars wines even though Kalasi Cellars wines were also on the tasting menu.

The grand opening for Antima Cellars was August 2021, so it has not been open for one year yet.

The first wine we tasted was the sparkling estate 2019 Princie. This is a blend of Roussanne and Albariño. I do not recall having a sparkling Albariño before and this was quite refreshing.

The other wine we tasted was the 2019 Koh i Noor. It is a blend of 33% Sangiovese, 38% Tannat/Zinfandel, and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Other Kalasi Cellars wines available for purchase by the bottle were:

  • 2019 Malvasia Bianca (Heritage)
  • 2019 Sparkling Muscat of Alexandria (Reincarnated)
  • 2017 Tannat (Reincarnated)
  • 2017 Merlot (Heritage)
  • 2017 Malbec (Heritage)
