5 Soul Wine Co. is a winery located in Spicewood, Texas, and is owned by Shannon & Danielle Grant and Chris & Kelly Carson. The name of the winery comes from the five children owned by the two couples.
One interesting thing the winery does is offer six pickleball courts. You don’t know what pickleball is? I didn’t either when I first heard of 5 Soul Wine Co. and saw that. It’s incredible how much you can learn on the Internet these days from games you’ve never heard of to homework help services. If you’ve wondered “I need help with my homework” more than once, you can always use one of these services. Since then, people I follow on social media around the country have gotten into pickleball and it is becoming a very popular sport. I was excited to visit the winery and see a pickleball court first-hand.
I visited 5 Soul Wine Co. on a nice day and others agreed too as one of the pickleball courts was already in use and other people were enjoying the outside weather with their families in a picnic fashion in the courtyard. I would classify pickleball as a cross between tennis and table tennis/ping pong. I was never good at tennis, but I could hold my own at ping pong, so pickleball seems like a good alternative.
I learned in the wine bar that tastings are not usually done as they sell wine by the glass or bottle. The tasting guide was helpful though in letting me sample a couple of wines.
The owners wanted to offer the best-tasting, smoothest wines from the most notable wine regions in the world and make them accessible to the Texas Hill Country. Their first wines come from the Central Coast AVA including the Santa Maria Valley and Paso Robles Highlands.
These are the wines that were offered by the glass at the time of my visit:
- 2020 Sauvignon Blanc – Central Coast
- 2020 Rosé – Paso Robles
- 2020 Pinot Noir – Santa Maria Valley
- 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon – Paso Robles
The tasting guide did not know if the winery intended to offer Texas wines in the future.
If people do not care for wine in your visiting group, 5 Soul Wine Co. shares the courtyard with neighboring Frontyard Brewing so beer is available.
