Messina Hof Wine Cellars, Inc. (Messina Hof), the most award-winning winery in Texas, has announced it has been awarded prestigious honors at various 2021 wine competitions.
Messina Hof was named top honors as the Top Texas Winery at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 2021 Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition. It also added an additional 21 awards to its list of winnings, including 10 Class and Texas Class Champion awards, three Reserve Texas Class Champion awards, and three Gold Medals.
At the 2021 Rodeo Uncorked! Champion Wine Auction & Dinner, the winery was also awarded its seventh saddle, given to those receiving top-in-class distinctions. Notable auction attendees included fellow saddle winner and famed rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

Bonarrigo. “Messina Hof is elated to have received numerous national and international awards. We are committed to continuing our award-winning excellence while expanding recognition of the Texas wine industry.”
The winery also took home multiple awards at the largest competition in the U.S., the 2021 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition which featured 2,601 entries from 18 countries. Messina Hof’s 2018 Private Reserve Tempranillo and 2019 Private Reserve Viognier both received Best of Class awards, the top in each category. Messina Hof won an additional six awards at the competition including a Gold Medal for Angel Late Harvest Riesling.
At the 2021 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo International Wine Competition, Messina Hof was awarded 18 different medals, including an impressive eight Gold Medals. Messina Hof’s 2018 GSM (Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre blend) was also recognized as Top of Class.
The 2021 TEXSOM International Wine Awards, which has over 3,400 annual entries, awarded Messina Hof three medals, including a Gold Medal for its premium 2018 Paulo Merlot.
Messina Hof continues to be recognized locally, nationally, and internationally year over year for its vast portfolio of wines and continued commitment to creating notable wine and culinary concepts.
Last October at the San Francisco International Wine Competition (SFIWC) the winery received Double Gold for its 2018 Sagrantino Reserva, a Gold Medal for its 2018 Artist Series Sangiovese, and an additional four medals. At last year’s Lone Star International Wine Competition, Messina Hof earned eight medals including two Gold Medals for its 2018 Sagrantino Reserva and 2018 Private Reserve Petite Sirah.
In February of 2021, Messina Hof expanded and opened its fourth winery location at the agricultural-based farm community of Harvest Green in Richmond, Texas. Messina Hof Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen is now the Greater Houston area’s largest winery.
The winery also recently celebrated the debut of its spring release wines. These include the latest vintages of its award-winning wines like Paulo Tempranillo, estate-grown Paulo Port, as well as new releases like Blushing Angel Heavenly Sweet Rosé, the counterpart to its popular Angel Late Harvest Riesling.
