Lood Kotze, Executive Winemaker and Viticulturist, was announced as the new winemaker for Reddy Vineyards. Kotze brings his 16 years of passion and experience to the Reddy Vineyards estates, but he is also excited to explore the Texas High Plains and see what the region has to offer.
“I’ve been interested in working in this wine region for a while,” said Lood Kotze. “I am excited to become a part of this long-standing Texas grape growing operation and to contribute to their continued success as a premium wine producer.”
Kotze was born and raised in South Africa, near Cape Town, and pursued his passion for wine while studying Viticulture and Enology at the University of Stellenbosch. Throughout his career, Kotze has had numerous wines receive 90+ ratings and best-of-show awards. He is also a regular speaker at tasting panels and a certified wine judge. Previously, Kotze was the production manager at a large custom crush winery in Sonoma, California.
“We’re continually working to produce the best wine, and grapes, that Texas has to offer,” said Akhil Reddy. “We’re thrilled to bring Lood’s knowledge, expertise and experience to our family owned and operated team to explore and experiment with various varietals and styles.”
Kotze was asked what his favorite Reddy Vineyard wine was. His reply: “It changes, but right now I’m really enjoying the 2017 Dyer Red Blend.”
