A winery makes wine and a vineyard grows grapes! Sometimes a winery can have a vineyard where they get their grapes from, but often a vineyard in Texas only grows grapes and then sells them to wineries.

Farmhouse Vineyards Wine & Marketplace and Tipsy Trailer

September 27, 2019 by Jeff Cope Leave a Comment

Farmhouse Vineyards Wine & Marketplace

The Farmhouse Vineyards Tasting Trailer, otherwise known as the Tipsy Trailer, was a popular addition to the Johnson City landmarks. Farmhouse Vineyards started making Texas wines and opened the tasting room in 2017. After offering a guest cottage in Johnson City, it was time to expand the small confines of the tasting trailer to a larger tasting room. In June 2017, the location for Farmhouse Vineyards’ tasting room moved almost across the street to a larger building called Farmhouse Vineyards Wine & Marketplace.

The new location has more room on the property, including a location for the Tipsy Trailer. The former tasting room now is used during special winery events such as wine club pick-up parties. The front of the tasting room takes on the similar style of Farmhouse Vineyards other tasting room, Whitehouse Parker, located in Brownfield closer to the vineyards of Farmhouse Vineyards in the Texas High Plains.

Gift Shop

The large gift shop offers many country décor items too numerous to mention here. Some items such as pottery, ceramics, art, towels, and glassware await your shopping needs. A selection of table runners is available for you to decorate the center of your table or to use as gift wrapping. Buy a Farmhouse Vineyards shopping bag and fill it up with items you will find throughout the gift shop. As you walk into the rear of the tasting room where the tasting bar is located, you will find wine accessories and candles to add to your bag.

There is a tasting fee for three flights of wine with fives wines each. These are the wines that were available in flights when we visited:

  • Boyfriend (100% Malvasia Bianca) – sparkling style
  • Bloom (100% Mourvèdre) – Rosé
  • Ramble On (Tempranillo, Merlot, Cabernet Franc) – red wine blend
  • Housewife (100% Malvasia Bianca)
  • Sweet (Malvasia Bianca, Orange Muscat) – dessert style
  • Revolution (100% Counoise) – sparkling style
  • Marché (Saignée) – Rosé

After your wine tasting, if you have not done enough shopping, check out the pantry that has food items such as pepper sauce, jelly, and honey to add to your shopping bag.

A lounge in the back of the tasting room is available for #Paydirt wine club members.

Make a stop by the Farmhouse Vineyards Wine & Marketplace next time you are staying in or passing through Johnson City.
