A fun Saturday afternoon was spent at The Triple D in Brownfield, Texas recently. The atmosphere of the place is always great but, on this day, Wilmeth-Hart Vineyards was hosting a wine tasting for their new label – Wilmeth-Hart Wines. And the wines poured did not disappoint! As an added bonus, it was National Wine Day!
Kevin and Michele Hart were on hand along with Jet and Gay Wilmeth and Ty and Mary Wilmeth to be sure things were going smoothly. Family and friends also joined in on the pouring and offering of a great selection of snacks to match with each wine. Live music provided by James Childress of The Local Nobody’s also added to the fun of the day.

Wilmeth-Hart offers a selection of “Bubbly” wines including:
2017 Diamante Blanco which is a semi-sweet made with Gewürztraminer. The wine is produced from Texas grapes from Diamante Doble Vineyard located at Tokio, Texas in the High Plains AVA. This wine has flavor characteristics of grapefruit, apricot, and citrus with crisp acidity. Chill and enjoy on the patio or pair with mild cheese, fresh fruits, or anything spicy for a taste delight!
2017 Jet’s Blend Sparkling Rosé is a dry rosé with a unique blend of 35% Mourvèdre, 32% Orange Muscat, 18% Gewürztraminer, and 15% Viognier all grown on the Diamante Doble Vineyard. The floral aromas of lychee and honeysuckle are complimented with hints of apricot and citrus.

White wines:
2017 Viognier is a full-bodied wine known for its perfumed aromas of peach, tangerine, and honeysuckle. This Viognier is produced at the Diamante Doble Dos Vineyards, also in Tokio. This will pair well with fresh fruit or salmon, shrimp, or pork.
Vino Blanco (one of my favorites) is produced primarily from Moscato grapes. This wine was made to entice the senses with aromas of floral petals, apricot, and ripe peach. This is a great evening wine to enjoy alone or with light snacks.

Rose and Blush:
2017 Jet’s Blend Rosé has the same mixture of the sparkling variety and can be enjoyed in much the same way. It is a good choice for those who really don’t have a taste for the sparkling wines yet.
2017 Pink Gewürztraminer was my absolute favorite. This wine is one of the most aromatic there is. With grapes from Diamante Doble, this semi-sweet wine is another great patio wine. Enjoy it with light snacks in the evening.

Red Wines:
2017 Merlot is one of the most widely grown grapes in the world. Merlot is a full-bodied wine known for its aromas of black cherry, raspberry, plum, and dark chocolate with moderate tannins. This is a great dinner wine.
2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is another full-bodied wine with many different aromas and flavors noted. The Wilmeth-Hart Cab is characterized by softer tannins and pairs well with ribeye steak, stuffed mushrooms, and other foods high in fat.

Trish and CJ Arguellez, regular pourers at The Triple D
Sangria is a refreshing blend that is characterized as structured, yet smooth. It is great served on its own but pairs well with cheese trays and fruits. Great chilled on a hot summer day or served warm for frosty nights.
This is just a selection of the great wines available from this new label. The graciousness of the Harts and the Wilmeths made the afternoon a wonderful way to end the day.
Thank you so much we are so very humbled by all the wonderful words.
You are most welcome sweet Mary!
