I enjoy watching TV to relax, and one of my favorite shows is ABC’s Shark Tank. I’m still hoping for that million dollar idea, but of course anytime someone comes on the show with a product related to wine, my ears perk up. That is exactly what happened when Shannon Zappala and Regan Kelaher, the founders of the Goverre wine glass, appeared.
The Goverre is a to-go stemless wine glass made of glass, not plastic, and comes with a silicone sleeve and a drink-through lid. The key I just said was glass. I am sure you have had wine from a plastic glass before, and it is not the most enjoyable experience. Make the wine glass actual glass, and now the enjoyment of your wine has been heightened. This glass is thicker than a typical wine glass making it even more durable than a plastic glass.
The silicone sleeve on the wine glass helps make sure the glass does not slip out of your hand, and also helps prevent your warm hand from affecting the temperature of your wine. Note that it is not recommended to remove the sleeve. The drink-through lid can be tightened to make the glass almost leak-proof. Even Goverre admits that the glass is not 100% leak-proof.
Turn the drink-through lid to the left a little or a lot, and you can drink from the glass with the lid still on the glass. This is great to make sure those pesky insects aren’t flying into your wine, or to give you a little more protection just in case you happen to tilt your glass without losing all your wine. Am I the only one who has done that at an outside party? The drink-through lid can also be completely removed from the glass and you can enjoy your wine that way with the stopper still in the glass. If you want, remove the stopper (made from silicone?) to use just the glass and silicone sleeve.
If you want colors, there are colors! Here is the list of colors but please note that some may be very popular and sold out:
- Wine
- Grey
- Hot Pink
- Peach
- Red
- Purple
- Lavender
- Green
- Navy
- Orange
- Turquoise
- Yellow
- Blue
Now that you know all about how the wine glass works, what isn’t good about it? I already mentioned that it isn’t totally leak-proof, which is again noted by Goverre. Remember to keep the glass upright in your picnic basket or purse.
Another thing is the glass is touted as holding 17 ounces of wine, more than half the contents of a wine bottle. In my measurements though, even without the lid and stopper, the glass only holds around 16 ounces and that’s right to the brim. If you make room for being able to use the lid, you’re talking about 15 ounces. That’s still larger than half the size of a wine bottle and plenty for any other beverage.
I know we talk and love wine, but any beverage is fine for this glass. When you’re done enjoying your favorite beverage, the wine glass, drink-through lid, and silicone sleeve are all dishwasher safe on the top rack.
We were so impressed with this wine glass that we became an affiliate for the Goverre. So, get some Goverre glasses for your next picnic or outdoor event!
