          A winery makes wine and a vineyard grows grapes! Sometimes a winery can have a vineyard where they get their grapes from, but often a vineyard in Texas only grows grapes and then sells them to wineries.

Two Wineries join Texas Hill Country Wineries

Texas Hill Country Wineries

The news this week is that Texas Hill Country Wineries has added two new wineries to its association making a total of 52 wineries! The two new wineries joining are 1851 Vineyards and Ron Yates.

1851 Vineyards

1851 Vineyards

1851 Vineyards is owned by John and Dabs Hollimon and is just south of Fredericksburg. The winemaker is John Rivenburgh. A seven-acre vineyard is part of the estate property. You can read more about 1851 Vineyards on our recent visit.

Ron Yates winery

Ron Yates

The other winery is Ron Yates located on U.S. 290, and is owned by Ron Yates, co-owner of Spicewood Vineyards, along with his mother, father, and sister. The winemaker is Todd Crowell who also does the winemaking at Spicewood Vineyards. The winery has a vineyard on the estate currently at four acres growing Tempranillo.
