Wedding Oak Winery in San Saba has become very popular since they have been in business winning awards and accolades with their wines. They have now expanded to a new tasting room located inside Wildseed Farms on US 290 in Fredericksburg called Wedding Oak Winery at Wildseed Farms. The tasting room opened on March 10, 2016.
We have enjoyed visiting Wildseed Farms before and having Wedding Oak Winery there now makes it even more of a reason to visit. Entering the store and making our way to the patio area in the middle will find Wedding Oak Winery to the left. There are tables outside the tasting room where you can enjoy a glass of wine after your selection.
We entered the tasting room and were pleasantly surprised to see Managing Partners and General Managers Mike and Lynn McHenry working there. It was Memorial Day weekend though and they knew it was going to be busy, so they came from San Saba to help out at the new tasting room.

Tastings at Wildseed Farms are done in four flights of five wines for two tasting fees. One fee is if you are tasting in the tasting room and a higher fee if you are seated on the patio being hosted with your tasting. The different flights available were:
- Red Wine Flight (Rosé and red wines)
- White Wine Flight (single varietal and blended white wines)
- Red, White, and True to Texas Flight (red and white wines)
- Nuptial Flight (mostly their Bridal named wines)
Just to be announced when we visited and now available are three new wines specifically for Wildseed Farms:
- Baby’s Breath 2015 (Riesling, Roussanne, Muscat Canelli, Verdelho, Viognier, and Vermentino)
- Sweet Alyssum 2015 (Muscat Canelli, Riesling, Roussanne, and Orange Muscat)
- Winecup 2015 (Montepulciano, Dolcetto, and Sangiovese)
All three new wines will be available at Wedding Oak Winery at Wildseed Farms and the Sweet Alyssum will be available at the winery in San Saba too.
We decided to have a glass of wine instead of a tasting. For a glass of wine, you are given a choice of three wines: red, white, and sparkling. Gloria chose a Bridal Bliss 2014 for a slight bubbly and I chose the Tre Vi 2015 (Viognier, Vermentino, and Verdelho). We were surprised when we were given a Govino glass to take and enjoy the wine at a table on the patio. What surprised us even more is we were charged $5 per glass on top of the wine per glass which is normally $8. The benefit of the Govino glass is if you bring it back next time, there is no charge for the glass and you just have to pay for the $8 glass of wine. Our glasses are now stored in our car so we don’t forget them next time!
In a room next to the patio and tasting room is a tank and barrel room. The winery will be doing reserve tastings there. In addition, 2016 white wines will be brought to Wildseed Farms to store in the tanks.
The new tasting room gives another location for Wedding Oak Winery which is more convenient for visitors on US 290 to buy their wines.
