The second annual Discover Wine Festival will be held this Saturday, June 25th from 12 to 6 p.m. in Kemah! All information is on the Discover Wine Festival website, but the location is 707 Harris Ave, Kemah, TX 77565.
The original location was going to be near where last year’s festival was located but in a better parking lot, but the parking lot landlord who owns the surrounding lots at the last minute decided he would rather use the parking lot for paid parking instead of having the festival use the lot. He was unwilling to work with the organizers, so some last minute adjustments were made and the festival was moved to Kemah next to Clear Creek Winery which is owned by one of the organizers. Kemah is actually a better location. Besides the wine festival, there are plenty of restaurants, the Kemah boardwalk, and other attractions and shopping too. Come enjoy the wine festival and the rest of what Kemah has to offer!
Last year the first Discover Wine Festival featured 19 Texas wineries serving up to three samples of their excellent wine. Almost 1,000 wine lovers attended the festival and learned that Texas does indeed make great wine. For being the first wine festival the organizers held, it ran smoothly and they learned a lot which will make this year’s festival even better.
Based on feedback from last year, this year’s Discover Wine Festival will have 12 Texas wineries serving and selling their wine, and the wineries attending will be offering a wide selection of wine and mead, from dry to sweet, and everything in-between. A winery can bring more wine this year which means even more of a variety that is sure to please every palate.
The wineries pouring and selling their wines this year will be:
- Clear Lake Vineyard / Mrs. McCartney’s Wines
- Flat Creek Estate
- Haak Vineyards & Winery
- Houston Winery
- Kissing Tree Vineyards
- Landon Winery
- Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards
- Perrine Winery
- Red Road Vineyard & Winery
- Rohan Meadery
- Texas Legato
- Texas SouthWind Vineyard & Winery
Since the Discover Wine Festival is still part of the Springboard South Music Festival, there will be 6 solo artists performing during the wine festival providing a nice background to the wine being poured. And since it is part of the music festival, any Discover Wine Festival admission ticket is valid to attend all the music events at the Springboard South Music Festival still located at 813 St Emanuel St, Houston, TX 77003.
New this year will be vendors providing their wares, so please attend and support the vendors present.
Last year the volunteers who helped were vital to making the wine festival a success and this year will be no exception. The volunteer sign up list is almost full but you can check www.discoverwinefestival.com/volunteers to see if there are any openings.
Thank you to Kroger and Texas Hill Country Wineries for being sponsors for this year’s festival.
