Just three harvests after the announcement of their new Director of Winemaking Sergio Cuadra, Fall Creek Vineyards is thrilled to announce yet another new member of the FCV winemaking team; Phillip Boyd Price, Jr., who joins the team as Assistant Winemaker. Price, formerly of BRAND Napa Valley arrives in Texas next week and will work directly with Cuadra and FCV Co-owner, Ed Auler.
Price, holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and a Master’s Degree in Agriculture (Enology and Viticulture) from California Polytechnic State University, where he also taught viticulture courses. He has a great passion for crafting world-class wines and brings a wealth of experience to the vineyard. His most recent assignment allowed him to work with one of the world’s top winemakers, Philippe Melka, on his vineyard designate wines as well as those of BRAND Napa Valley, which receive top marks from Robert Parker.
Price will work side by side with Cuadra, who arrived on the Texas scene three years ago. Cuadra brings a global perspective, having made some of the finest wines in Chile, having worked as Chief Winemaker for many years at two highly successful Chilean companies, Concha Y Toro and Caliterra, sister company of Viña Errázuirz. He joined Anakena wines in 2010, where he worked with the consultancy of Paul Hobbs.
Ed Auler, Co-owner and winemaker at FCV is excited about Price’s arrival, “We think Price will be an excellent addition to our Fall Creek team, which has produced highly lauded Cabernet Sauvignon blended wines, partly because of Phil’s experience with BRAND’s Robert Parker-rated Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Phil has broad experience with many of the grape varieties which we have proven grow well in Texas.”
