DRIPPING SPRINGS, TX – Hawk’s Shadow Estate Vineyard and Winery is pleased to announce the grand opening of the New Winery and Limestone Barrel Cellar on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 26-28, 2015. The event is open to the Texas Wine-loving public and will feature the unique red and white wines from the Hawk’s Shadow portfolio, as well as hospitality and tours of the new facility.

The newly completed winery includes three major elements: a new facility for wine-making with double the capacity for new wines, from crush to bottle; a large tasting room and open-air porch with expansive 25-mile views over the estate vineyards and across the Pedernales River watershed north of Dripping Springs. And, a large wine cellar and barrel room, excavated from the limestone plateau directly below the new winery, for extended barrel-aging of vintage wine in a cool, natural Hill Country setting.

Doug Reed, co-owner of Hawk’s Shadow Estate, said, “As the interest in Texas wine continues to expand, we are pleased to open our new winery here in Dripping Springs. We are expanding our Texas wine portfolio, and want to provide our club members and visitors with a unique and interesting winery experience where you can relax and enjoy wine with family and friends. The limestone barrel cave is ideal as an aging cellar for the new vintage, as the vineyard is planted in the same limestone formation just down the slope. With the winery situated above the cellar, and below the crush facility, we will use gravity to move wine and minimize pumping. And with a barrel lift, we can move barrels up for bottling with minimal effort. We look forward to hosting special wine events in this natural surrounding. Great Texas wine, sweeping views, a new limestone barrel room, and a Hill Country wine experience like no other. That’s what Hawk’s Shadow is all about.”

About Hawk’s Shadow Estate Winery and Vineyard

Hawk’s Shadow Winery is located deep in the Texas Hill Country, and yet is just 30 miles from downtown Austin. The Estate, established in 1989, is situated on a 76-acre limestone plateau, with 7.5 acres of vineyards, ranging from 5 to 9 years old. Hawk’s Shadow is run with the same hardworking spirit of those who first carved a life from the limestone plateaus of Central Texas. This uniquely Texan terroir produced men and women of strong character and uniqueness, qualities found in the vines grown on the estate. Hawk’s Shadow has crafted a portfolio of Texas wines featuring our own estate varietals, and warm climate grapes carefully chosen from Texas growers.

Hawk’s Shadow is open on Saturday from 12-6pm, or any day by appointment.
