(BERTRAM, TEXAS) – Pilot Knob Vineyard and Winery is preparing to bottle five new wines this month, and will host a special preview party on April 18 for its wine club members to try two of the brand-new wines.
The 2014 Chardonnay and 2014 Viognier Reserve will be showcased for the winery’s pre-bottling Wine Club event on April 18. The following week, those two wines, along with the 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, a second bottling of the 2014 PK Cuvee (a white blend in Pilot Knob tasting rotation), and the Sweet Rosé will be bottled, and those wines will find their way into the tasting room in the coming months.
“We’re excited to bringing new wines to the tasting room, and we’re especially excited to allow our wine club members to be among the first to taste the two new whites we’re premiering,” said Craig Pinkley, Pilot Knob’s co-owner and winemaker. “Chardonnay is one of the best-known and best-loved varietals around, and Viognier is well-known for anyone following Texas winemaking. We’re looking forward to getting these wines to market just in time for the warmer weather.”
The new releases also come on the heels of last month’s news that three of Pilot Knob’s flagship wines – the 2014 Viognier, the 2014 PK Cuvee, and 2013 Franco Rojo Reserve – received medals at the first-ever TEXSOM International Wine Competition that Pilot Knob entered. The winery will be entering additional wine competitions this year to see how its wines fare with judges.
New wine club members who join on or prior to April 17, 2015, will be able to attend the April 18 preview party.
