Driftwood Estate Winery Wins Saddle for Top Texas Wine of 2015

(April 6th, 2015) DRIFTWOOD, TEXAS – Driftwood Estate Winery is pleased to announce that the winery has received the award for winning the Top Texas Wine of 2015 at the Houston Livestock and Rodeo International Wine Competition for its 2012 Longhorn Red.

The winery received a saddle to represent winning the Top Texas Wine and a saddle stand presented by the George Bush Presidential Library Foundation.

The Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition is held each November. This years International Wine Competition boasted 2,578 entries including wines from 43 Texas wineries and 16 different countries.

“We look forward to continuing to produce world class wine from Texas grapes,” said Gary Elliott, owner and winemaker at Driftwood Estate Winery.

The 2012 Longhorn Red, a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Syrah, received a Double Gold Class Champion, “Top Texas Wine”, while the 2012 Sangiovese won a Gold Medal, Reserve Class Champion. The 2012 Alamo Red received a Gold Medal, and the 2012 Syrah received a Silver medal.

All four wines are available in the tasting room; the 2012 Longhorn Red for bottle purchases only.
