RICHMOND, TEXAS – Braman Winery today announced their winners from the 2015 TEXSOM International Wine Awards. The event hosted by TEXSOM in conjunction with presenting sponsor Texas Monthly was held at the Irving Convention Center on February 23-24, 2015. This year’s tastings and award consideration had the largest and most diverse selection of wines in the history of the 31-year-old competition. A panel of 28 sommeliers and 68 judges tested nearly 3,600 wines from 21 different countries and 15 states.
The TEXSOM International Wine Awards is one of the largest, most respected and longest-running competitions in the United States and 2015 was the most successful year yet with a record for the most entries in the competition’s history. Wines are arranged and judged in seven categories: Sherry, Sparkling, White, Rose, Red, Fortified and Dessert, and Sake. Within these classifications wines are sorted by country or state, appellation, and wine grape.
The three Braman Winery selections awarded medals at the competition, include:
Bronze – 2010 Joseph Braman Merlot, Napa Valley
Bronze – 2010 Eaglefire Meritage, Terry County, Texas High Plains
Bronze – 2007 Aldonza Seleccion, Vino de la Tierra de Castilla
About Braman Brands
Braman Brands was launched in 2010 by Founder and CEO Joe Braman. Braman Winery, his initial endeavor, steamed from the pursuit of finding a great wine to complement his culinary passion as a chef. The Braman family of wines includes Joseph Braman, Joseph Braman Reserve, Sparkles, Aldonza, and Eaglefire wines. The winery currently boasts two tasting rooms located in Richmond and Hallettsville. In 2015, he’ll open a one-of-a-kind venue, featuring both a winery and brewery – an exciting endeavor as Braman Brands launches their new craft beer, Running Walker.
