The 2015 Lone Star International Wine Competition will be held from June 1-2 in Grapevine, Texas. The Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association (TWGGA) formally invite entries for the 2015 Lone Star International Wine Competition. This year marks the 32nd anniversary of the competition which is three competitions in one – a Texas competition, an International competition, and a Limited Production competition.
This competition is the oldest wine competition in the State of Texas. Wines from around the world are judged in 30+ categories by a panel of restaurant owners, sommeliers, chefs, media, and other wine experts from Texas, California, and New Mexico. The co-chairs are Barbara Werley, M.S., Pappas Brothers Steakhouse’s Master Sommelier and Beverage Director, and Daniel Kelada, Executive Sommelier, Master Candidate and Senior Wine Instructor with the International Wine Guild. Debbie Reynolds, Executive Director of the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association, serves as the competition Director.
Following the blind competition judging, a public tasting will be hosted for the judges, volunteers, and consumers. Gold and Silver medal and Grand Star winning wines are available for all in attendance from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Grapevine Convention Center located at 1209 S. Main Street, Grapevine, TX.
The Wine Bottle Label competition, judged by local world-class artists and photographers, will take place on Saturday, May 30.
