Blue Lotus Winery and Texas Mead Works are at the same location and that is in Seguin, Texas. When I visited there in 2013, they were doing tastings in the production area and were planning on building a tasting room near the road frontage and the neighboring vineyard. The tasting room has now been built and while we were at the TWGGA Conference in San Marcos, we made a quick trip to Seguin to visit the tasting room.
I had met co-owner Melissa Poole on my first visit and this time we had the pleasure of Michael Poole showing us around the new tasting room. They designed the new tasting room themselves and it is a beautiful tasting room. It will make a great location for their wine club members, visitors, and the events they have coming up.

Their Grand Opening will be on March 14th from noon to five where they will be celebrating their new tasting room. Their wine and meads will be served at the tasting bar, appetizers will be available, carbonated meads on tap, and live music playing during the day.
If you cannot make the Grand Opening, then check out their Adopt A Vine event happening on March 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. They will be planting Norton grapes in a new section of the vineyard. You will be able to learn the process from start to finish and then enjoy a winery tour and lunch.
If you are an amateur wine or mead maker, then on June 13th, you can enter their 2015 Amateur Wine & Mead competition. If you cook instead, at the same event is a BBQ Cook-Off Contest.
As you can see Blue Lotus Winery and Texas Mead Works is here to stay and ready to show you a great time at their winery.
