I received two BottleBully’s from a Twitter contest last year. What’s a BottleBully? It’s a product which allows you to transport wine and spirits safely and securely, whether you are putting them in your airline checked luggage, carrying in your car, shipping, or just giving a bottle as a gift.
Each BottleBully is a round cardboard cylinder with an air chamber inside. This protects any bottle safely and securely. The two I received came in two different colors: blue and grey. Each BottleBully is reusable and recyclable and is large enough to hold any size bottle of wine including a Champagne-sized bottle.
The air chamber inside protects your bottle of wine or spirit on all sides and the bottom. The only thing that you should probably do is protect the top with something, even something like a sock, to prevent the top of the bottle from hitting the cap of the BottleBully. The lightweight BottleBully comes with two 3M seal strips that will seal the cap and prevent it from coming apart. A personalized To/From label is also provided if you want to use it to protect a gift.
You’ve seen airport luggage handlers throw around checked baggage and you probably even remember the old television commercial with a gorilla jumping on luggage. You certainly do not want to take a chance on your expensive bottle of wine or spirit getting broken in your checked luggage.
The BottleBully is a little bulkier than just a single bottle, so you have to trade the difference between a little less room in your suitcase versus protection that the bottle will not break. I know families who have wrapped bottles of spirits in their suitcases going between countries with no problems for years, but if you want to be sure there is not going to be any breakage, the BottleBully may be for you.
