Tehuacana Creek Vineyards and Winery will be changing their name to Waco Winery and Vineyards. Owners Inga-Lill and Ulf Westblom decided to sell the majority of their interest in Tehuacana Creek Vineyards and Winery to a group that will continue the dream and develop the facilities. The Westbloms will stay on as winemakers for the new company.
The Tehuacana Creek Vineyards brand and label will continue on and will be the foundation. Future plans include additional labels, offering more wines beyond the current selections. Utilizing “Waco Winery” as the umbrella name will be better suited for the long-term plans for the facility.
An architect has been brought in to develop a master plan, incorporating a Tuscany theme throughout the property. The Initial phase of development will be a new purpose-built Tasting Room. Until the new building is open, the winery building and crush pad will serve as the temporary area for tastings and sales.
The Tasting Room days and hours of operation will be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, open from 11 am to 5 pm, starting December 5, 2014. As soon as the architects’ rendering of the new tasting room is available, it will be on display there.
Additional development plans following the new tasting room will include an Event Center. This will be the crown jewel of the facility. This will allow the winery to respond positively to the inquiries regarding weddings and events that are received each month.
An amphitheater is planned as a venue for a variety of special events and performances throughout the year. This open-air setting will provide an area for picnics and the simple enjoyment of viewing spectacular sunsets.
Further, plans to enhance the facilities over the next few months, including adding picnic tables under their grand oak trees, along with sitting areas surrounding fire pits and bocce ball courts are under way.
WacoWinery.com is and has been the informational site for the winery since the beginning and will remain so. A new revamped site is in the construction phase currently and should be available shortly. New features will include construction updates, a Wine of the Month page, Winemaker notes, a Wine Club page, with exclusive saving offerings and comments from the new executive director. Also, a shopping cart that will allow purchases to be made directly from the winery will be added.
The next year includes plans for new wine classes for the novice and pro alike. Special dinners with wine parings at selected locations around the area. 2015 is going to be an exciting year at Waco Winery and Vineyards and they invite everybody to join in the ongoing development of a dream started many years ago by the Westbloms.
