The NewAir AW-180E wine cooler is an 18 bottle single zone wine cooler. It is a thermoelectric wine cooler which means it’s really quiet whereas a compressor wine cooler can be louder.
The wine cooler arrived safely in a nicely packaged box to ensure there was no damage. After removing the wine cooler from the box, I could see the door was taped to the sides to ensure it did not open during transport.
Unfortunately the packing tape is the kind that has fibers and after trying to cleanly pull off the tape, it left a lot of fibers on the wine cooler. Fortunately with a little Goo Gone I was able to clean off the tape residue and had a clean wine cooler.
The next step was to put the door handle on which comes with screws to insert through the door. The inside of the door handle which contacts the door has a protective piece of foam and one side of it is conveniently cut out so the screw can be inserted through the hole. One side was fine but unfortunately on the other side, the foam was incorrect. I tried to peel it off and flip it around, but could not. I was then able to make a hole through the other side so the screw could be inserted through it.
Once the door handle is installed, the next step the manual states is to clean the interior with a soft cloth and lukewarm water. After doing so, it was time to set the digital controls to a temperature between 50 and 66 degrees. I chose to set it to 55 degrees and let it cool down to that temperature before inserting wine bottles.
I inserted a refrigerator thermometer to test the temperature settings and once the wine cooler said it reached 55 degrees, I checked the thermometer and it said it was 54 degrees. That was pretty accurate for me and through the next few weeks, I kept checking the differences and it was consistently the same. Even though we placed the wine cooler in an area which got a little sun during the day, the wine cooler kept its constant temperature which was impressive.
We like sparkling wine and the bigger bottles can sometimes be a problem for some wine coolers. The bottles fit fine on the top and bottom racks. Even better, you can turn a chrome plated shelf over in the middle which allows more room for larger bottles.
A built-in blue light by a touch of a button will illuminate your wine so you can find that right bottle when searching. You can also switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit for the digital temperature. The dimensions of the wine cooler are 13.50″ wide by 20.00″ deep by 25.25″ high.
The wine cooler has performed flawlessly and I can easily recommend one, especially for the price. You can find the NewAir AW-180E wine cooler for purchase at Amazon.
