Colorado River Winery is located in Bastrop and is owned by Brad and Sylvia Cook. The winery opened in December, 2013.
I visited the winery before it was officially open during the 2013 Lost Pines Christmas Swirl. I then returned to visit after they opened.
The winery is very easy to find on the main road leading into the Bastrop historical district. Entering the Tuscan style tasting room will find you among many tables and a large tasting bar to enjoy a glass of wine.
There is a tasting fee for four wines. The tasting fee is waived with a two bottle purchase though. Tastings are done while seated or standing at the tasting bar. The wines are poured with measured pourers. If you are hungry, cheese and cracker snack plates can be purchased.
Wines available are:
- Seasonal Bliss
- Merlot
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Texas Tempranillo
- Sweet White
- Chardonnay
- Sweet Blush
- Pinot Grigio
The Texas wine is the Tempranillo and the rest currently are made with California grapes.
