Billsboro Winery is located on 28 acres overlooking the northern end of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes. It opened in 2007 and is owned by Vinny and Kim Aliperti. Vinny is the winemaker. In fact Vinny is also the winemaker for Atwater Estate Vineyards which we previously visited. The wines from Billsboro Winery are made at Atwater Estate Vineyards.
The winery’s design is a barn and the tasting room covers the ground floor with its rustic timber ceiling and stone wall. Tastings are done while standing at the tasting bar and there is a tasting fee for six wines. The tastings are poured from the bottle and Billsboro Winery uses both corks and screw caps. Cheese is available to cleanse your palate. You can also buy food such as baguettes, cheeses, and sausage.
Billsboro Winery only sources their grapes from Sawmill Creek Vineyards and Atwater Estate Vineyards. They produce 3,000 cases of wine a year.
Some of the available wines to taste are:
- 2012 Dry Riesling
- 2012 Sauvignon Blanc (blended with 10% Albarino)
- 2012 Chardonnay
- 2012 Pinot Gris (blended with 5% Gewürztraminer)
- 2012 Kashong White (80% Vidal Blanc and 20% Cayuga White)
