2013 Lost Pines Christmas Swirl

December 16, 2013 by Jeff Cope 1 Comment

Bastrop Swirl

I had the pleasure of attending the 2013 Lost Pines Christmas Swirl in Bastrop. Besides being a lot of fun, it was a pleasure because this year’s event sold out. You should start planning on attending next year’s event now!

The Swirl was held on Thursday, December 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Bastrop. The Lost Pines Christmas Swirl is just one part of a four day event in Bastrop. The event benefits improving Bastrop with various things like jokingly adding lights to the empty lot where everyone was to pick up their tickets.

After picking up a wine glass, wine bag (for holding 6 wine bottles), wrist band, and map, people were off visiting the ten different wineries located in ten stores throughout the Bastrop downtown shopping district. In addition to getting a tasting for a ticket, you could buy bottles of wine you liked. Along with the wines served at the stores was a delicious food tasting from a local restaurant.

The first location recommended to visit was the upcoming Colorado River Winery. Along with their wines which they could only give out, they served Salado Creek Winery wines. It will be nice going back and visiting the winery when they are in full swing.

Other Texas wineries located throughout the stores were:

  • Brennan Vineyards
  • Dionisio Winery
  • William Chris Vineyards
  • Pedernales Cellars
  • Georgetown Winery
  • Wedding Oak Winery
  • Duchman Family Winery
  • Pleasant Hill Winery
  • Red 55 Winery

Other stores in Bastrop were open for Christmas shopping besides the stores which had wineries.

I had the chance to talk to others doing the Lost Pines Christmas Swirl and everybody was having a great time. Based on this year’s event, I’ll see you at next year’s!

This was my first swirl but won’t be my last. My last stop was William Chris wine and absolutely the best red blend I ever tasted. Had to buy a bottle!
