Cork This! Winery is located in the center of Montgomery and is owned by Karla Nash who is also the winemaker. Mike Phillips does help with the winemaking. The winery was opened in 2009.
The last time we visited Cork This! we were fortunate Karla Nash was also present. Besides always being fun to talk to, Karla gave us a tour of the winery and their recent expansion which happened in June, 2013. Tours are available if Karla is there. With the recent expansion, they now have two event rooms and can handle over 120 people at one time.
This is good because they hold events which are very popular. The second Wednesday of every month is Botox, Wine, & Chocolate. Complimentary chocolate fountain with all the fixings is provided as well as all the wine you can drink. Wine is $6 per glass or available by the bottle. Vendors are available at the winery so you can shop that night too. And yes, even Botox injections are available by highly trained Board Certified physicians.
Other events such as live music are sometimes held. It is a perfect location for entertaining clients and staff, a private celebration, and other events. Cork This! will work with you to meet your needs from hors d’oeuvres to a sit down dinner.

But most importantly, let’s talk about the wine. There is a tasting fee for four wines. Dessert wines are $2 per taste. You can either sit at the tasting bar or a table to do a tasting and the tastings are poured from the uncorked bottles. Crackers are available for cleansing your palate and food such as cheese and salami trays are available. In addition wine slushies can be purchased.
Regarding the tasting, this is the second winery we have seen who serve their tastings in a wine pallet with four carafes. Karla admitted they borrowed the idea from another winery as the idea is to give the wine to the customer, and then be able to walk around and talk to everyone about the wines. Since they are so often busy, it also makes it easier to determine what tasting a person is on.
The menu at Cork This! is humorous with names of the wines such as Alcoholiday Peach Apricot Chardonnay described with the warning: “Drinking this wine may cause you to think quitting your corporate job and opening a winery is a good idea!”
Cork This! specializes in custom made wines created from the highest quality varietals. Most of the wines are made in classic dry style and five of the offerings are on the sweet side. The winery contracts with seven vineyards, six from California and one from Texas, to get the grapes to Montgomery each harvest. They are not currently making any wines with Texas grapes but have made some in the past. The current fruit comes from California, Washington, and New Mexico. Their sweet wines are made from juice. Cork This! Winery produces 2,100 cases of wine a year.
You can also bottle your own wine with a personally designed custom label for your personal use or as a gift for corporate events, weddings, rehearsal dinners, and other special events. Cork This! guides you through the entire process of making your wine including sanitizing, bottling, corking, sealing, and labeling your wine with a custom label.
There is a nice gift shop with jewelry, clothing, wine glasses, and other wine accessories. A wine club is available called the Groupies Wine Club.
We got the inside scoop that a second location will be opening in November at Santa’s Wonderland in College Station. It sounds like a visit will be needed this winter to visit Santa and Cork This! Winery.
Cork This! Winery is on the Bluebonnet Wine Trail.
