I attended last year’s Media & Technology Symposium at TEXSOM (Texas Sommelier Conference) which was a pre-conference day about social media and blogging. It was very informative and I was pleased to see this year they are offering the pre-conference day again. In case you aren’t aware, TEXSOM is one of the leading wine conferences every year in which leading professionals address current and future trends that affect today’s wine and beverage industry.
TEXSOM is being held in Dallas, TX from Saturday, August 11, 2012 through Monday, August 13. I only attended the pre-conference day last year but will be attending all three days this year as I learned later I missed out on a lot of things.
This year there were two choices available for the pre-conference day. One of the choices is called the Pre-Conference Boot Camp Social Media Track and it had to be my selection since I can always learn how to improve my blogging.
The morning session entitled “Social Media Bootcamp” will once again be held by Tony Jones (@jonestony) which I attended last year. Tony talked about social media with the primary places being Facebook and Twitter. He gave some good tips and recommendations on what he thought about social media. It will be interesting to see what he has for us this year.
The afternoon session entitled “Engaging People with Social Media” this year will be held by Rick Bakas (@rickbakas). Rick is a Certified Sommelier and the Founder of new media relations agency, Bakas Media. Rick is very active on Twitter and it should be very interesting learning in his session. He even gave a personal invitation to the Social Media Track with a YouTube video.
Unfortunately the second and third days of TEXSOM are sold out but the Social Media Track is still available. Sign up for a low $50 and learn more about Social Media. You can register here.
